Quality Assurance

BABINA Diagnostic Centre has been accredited by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories), becoming the first medical laboratory in the northeastern region to achieve this rare distinction. However, this achievement is not the end of the road in our commitment to Quality. The Quality Policy pursued by the Centre is an ongoing process and we have implemented a stringent Quality System that fulfils the ISO15189:2003 standards as per the Requirements/Guidelines of NABL.

EXTERNAL QUALITY CONTROL :

Based on consistently reliable performance with Quality Service, BABINA Diagnostic Centre is now recognised as a National Reference Laboratory by Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (IAPM) and is an active participant of National Quality Control Program conducted by IAPM. The Centre is also an active participant of External Quality Assurance Programs conducted regularly by RIQAS, UK  and Bio-RAD EQAS, USA.

Furthermore the Centre is a regular participant of proficiency testing programmes conducted by CMC, Vellore, AMLA Institute of Medical Science, Thrissur, Anand Diagnostic, Bangalore, AIIMS, New Delhi and Randox UK.
 
INTERNAL QUALITY CONTROL:

In strict accordance with standard protocols complying with national and international guidelines, Quality Control samples are run every day at pre-determined intervals before commencement of testing of actual patient samples. Results are checked for compliance with Westgard rules. Thereafter, Departmental heads of the different laboratory sections along with Senior Technicians review Levey Jenning control charts at frequent intervals to detect specific areas that require improvement.

Quality Improvement Committee:

BABINA Diagnostic Centre, Imphal has a Quality Improvement Committee comprising of the Managing Director, the Quality Manager, Heads of Departments and Senior Technicians from representative sections. The Committee members meet at regular intervals to review quality targets in terms of achievements and set new goals for continuous improvement of quality and turn around time.
Furthermore, the Centre also conducts Competence Testing of all laboratory technicians at regular intervals to check the entire testing process - right from the sample registration stage to the reporting stage.

Quality Accreditation :

BABINA Diagnostic Centre has been accredited by National Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India in September 2007 to cover a wide range of tests in the following disciplines:
