Lab Profile

Established in 1983 under the able leadership of Dr. Thangjam Dhabali Singh, BABINA Diagnostics (formerly BABINA Diagnostic Centre) is a premier diagnostic laboratory in the state. The centre, which started off as a small-scale clinical laboratory providing basic investigations is now a multifarious diagnostic clinic with facilities for a wide range of tests, including Radiological investigations. Equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology and methodologies, and with almost three decades of experience, the centre is a household name in the Northeast and, arguably, the best medical laboratory in this part of the country.

The centre caters to more than two lakh patients annually and has on its rolls medical professionals of high caliber belonging to various healthcare disciplines – Pathology, Radiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, etc. supported by highly skilled and experienced technicians. Its operations are managed by a team of professionals at its Corporate Office representing various functional areas – Sales and Marketing, Accounts and Administration, Customer Care, Systems Management, Report Checking and Sorting, Housekeeping, etc. In 2007, it achieved the rare distinction of becoming the first laboratory in the Northeast to be accredited by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories). With the setting up of its second unit at Porompat, Imphal East which started its operations from June 2012, BABINA Diagnostics can easily stake its claim as the biggest diagnostic centre in Eastern India. In terms of the range of equipment installed and facilities available, the centre is certainly one of the biggest in the entire country.

The new unit at Porompat is a stylish centrally air-conditioned building with spacious waiting lounge for patients, ample parking space and cafeteria. Some of the new equipments installed include 1.5 Tesla MRI, 128-slice CT Scanner, Mammography, Digital X-Ray and StreamLab Laboratory Automation System, which incidentally, is being installed for the first time in India. The centre also has a pneumatic sample transportation system for facilitating easy transportation of samples between lab floors. With facility for downloading of reports from the internet by patients, BABINA Diagnostics has all the facilities at par with the best diagnostic labs in the country.
